WikiVideo website
The audience plays an important role in Eboman’s work, as you can see here. To enable his audience to participate in his creative work in the studio he came up with the WikiVideo website concept.
The website www.wikivideo.info is central to the WikiVideo project. This website allows everyone to add fragments from YouTube videos to the WikiVideo database. Anyone can download a YouTube video to the WikiVideo website, cut a segment lasting no more than 30 seconds from the video, add it to a WikiVideo subject, add a message for Eboman and sign it with Facebook. After signing the videosample it is automatically downloaded and analyzed by Eboman’s videosampler in his studio so he can use it directly in his compositions.
This whole process is visible on the website through a 24-hours-a-day live video stream from a camera pointing at Eboman’s workplace. Immediately after submitting the sample it enters his studio and Eboman can respond through the live stream.
When Eboman publishes a ‘wikivideo’ everybody who contributed to the track will recieve an email. On the wikivideo website anybody can browse through the wikivideo database, watch all the videosamples, the Facebook profiles and messages of the submitters and the original YouTube videos that contain the samples.
What we did
We built the entire video download and analysis system, the video database and the video sampler that Eboman uses to produce his wikivideo compositions. The Flash and HTML part of this project we produced in collaboration with eRunner.
About the client
Eboman is a pioneer in the field of interactive audiovisual experiences. Eboman has proven over and over again to be  ahead of  his time if it concerns real time video sampling.
